The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army runs homelessness services across the UK, from drop-in centres to accommodation — their Lifehouses and night shelters. Their finder takes your postcode and shows the nearest one, with its address and phone number. It doesn't list opening hours, so ring before you set out.

It is not always money you keep: depending on your circumstances you may be offered an interest-free loan or a grant you would not have to pay back, so ask which you have been awarded. A loan is recovered by deduction from your benefit, or by Direct Debit if you get Universal Credit.
